Kaisa is a political scientist specialized in the countries of the former Soviet Union, particularly the five Central Asian states. She currently serves as the Executive Assistant to ICRD’s President Douglas Johnston.
Prior to joining ICRD, she worked as a Program and Communications Associate at a Finnish trade union, as a Junior Political Officer at the European Commission and attaché trainee at the Embassy of Finland in Kazakhstan. She holds a dual master’s degree in Russian, Central and East European Studies from University of Glasgow and in International Relations from KIMEP University. She completed her undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University, Vancouver (BC) in International Studies focusing on security and conflicts.
