The International Center for Religion & Diplomacy presented its 2016 Faith-in-Action Award to Imam Mohamed Magid at its annual dinner on May 12th, honoring him for his renowned religious and civic leadership, including his work with the White House in countering violent religious extremism.

In addition to the award presentation, highlights of the evening included remarks from White House Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough (speaking on behalf of President Obama), who also spoke of the President’s belief in and support for the work of ICRD. Further appreciation for Imam Magid was expressed by George Selim, Director of the Office of Community Projects at the Department of Homeland Security, on behalf of Secretary Jeh Johnson. Lending further gravitas to the evening, Dr. Gregory Treverton, Chairman of the National Intelligence Council, delivered an insightful, albeit sobering, address on the security challenges that lie ahead.
