ICRD Update: March 8, 2018

This month, ICRD hosted a panel discussion at American University titled, “Religion and CVE: Including the Exclusivists?”, which discussed the role of conservative religious actors in Countering Violent Extremism (CVE). The panel featured prominent thinkers in the field, including Dr. Peter Mandaville, Professor of International Affairs in the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University, Ms. Palwasha Kakar, Senior Program Officer for Religion and Inclusive Societies at the U.S. Institute of Peace, James Patton, President & CEO of ICRD, and Ms. Bunmi Akinnusotu, Host of the “What in the World?” podcast. The event was a tremendous success, bringing to light a number of valuable insights on CVE and the participation of illiberal, but nonviolent, religious actors. Read more here.
