Maryam Iftikhar
Communications Director
As Communications Director at ICRD, Maryam works with the team to lead the charge in crafting and coordinating strategic campaigns that bring the organization’s mission to life. From multimedia storytelling and cross-platform initiatives to digital marketing and media relations, she’s helped diversify ICRD’s outreach and strengthen its role as a hub for conversations on peace, faith, and diplomacy. Whether curating compelling content or managing ICRD’s events calendar, Maryam ensures the organization’s message resonates with audiences far and wide.
Maryam has a bachelors in global studies from Hood College, with a concentration in conflict resolution, and a minor in non-profit and civic engagement. She has since built her expertise in communications through roles at Freedom House, Families USA, Burness, and the Frank Karel Fellowship. A recipient of the Davis Projects for Peace grant, Maryam partnered with RAICES to support migrant communities in Texas, improving access to financial aid and essential resources.
As an immigrant and first-generation scholar, Maryam is dedicated to helping others succeed. She extends professional development support to first-gen students and serves on the Board of the Maryland Collegiate Honors Council. Her personal experiences fuel her commitment to equity, human rights, and creating opportunities for others.
When she’s not shaping communications at ICRD, Maryam enjoys mentoring students, exploring fantasy literature, and traveling.
