OUR WORK

At the International Center for Religion & Diplomacy we are committed to building a world where peace is possible—and lasting.

For over 25 years, ICRD has been transforming conflict and fostering peace across faiths, cultures, and nations. With more than 90 programs, projects, and initiatives in over 40 countries, our impact is far-reaching—from advancing reconciliation in Yemen to promoting tolerance in religious education in Pakistan, to empowering women of faith as peacebuilders in Colombia, and beyond.

We believe lasting peace begins with inclusive, community-driven efforts. That’s why we bridge divides and equip communities to lead tailored peacebuilding initiatives. Our work spans promoting tolerance in education, reintegrating former combatants, fostering interfaith collaboration on local conflicts, and advancing reconciliation between former adversaries—while advocating for grassroots voices to shape systemic change.

From local communities to global diplomacy, ICRD’s mission is unwavering: to build partnerships that inspire hope, resolve conflicts, and create a foundation for sustainable peace. We are proud to hold official consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Women Peacebuilders

ICRD recognizes the transformative power of women peacebuilders and empowers them to lead in conflict resolution and reconciliation. Through tailored programs and specialized training in conflict transformation, context analysis, and transitional justice, we equip women to address complex challenges with confidence. By fostering networks of support and creating collaborative spaces, we amplify their voices, strengthen their leadership, and help build lasting peace in their communities.

Resilient Networks

ICRD builds resilient networks by fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders, including religious leaders, educators, government officials, business leaders, and activists. By uniting diverse groups around shared values, we bridge divides between faith traditions, civil society sectors, and marginalized communities. These inclusive partnerships empower peacebuilders to address common challenges, strengthen relationships, and create lasting capacity to counter extremism and break cycles of violence.

Public Policy

ICRD works to reshape international policy by highlighting the positive role of religion and religious actors in building peace. Through global partnerships with the U.S. State Department, the United Nations, and civil society networks, we promote a nuanced understanding of religion’s potential to mitigate conflict. Our research and discreet engagements with policymakers ensure that religion is recognized as a vital resource in fostering dialogue and sustainable peace.

Conflict Resolution

ICRD empowers faith actors and civil society organizations to address the root causes of conflict and extremist violence by combining global conflict resolution practices with local traditions. Our participant-driven training allows communities to adapt techniques to their cultural and spiritual contexts, strengthening religious leaders as peacebuilders. Through mentorship and support, these leaders launch grassroots initiatives, foster dialogue, and build local capacity to resolve tensions and navigate future challenges.
