  • Yemen: Intra-community cross-sectoral collaboration and the role of identity in P/CVE.
  • Maldives: Reintegration and rehabilitation of former fighters, addressing trauma, and a whole-of-society approach to P/CVE.
  • Libya: Negotiating with extremists and the role of female negotiators and mediators.

ICRD presents the 2011 documentary, Back from the Brink

The film explores the efforts of three dissimilar communities—the complex world of Los Angeles gang members, Lebanese and Palestinian militias, and Pakistani militants dating from the 1970s to present day—and their efforts in combatting violent extremism.

The documentary spotlights community leaders, religious leaders and educators who are facilitating the rehabilitation of radicalized youth.

This study guide is supplemental to our 2011 documentary film, Back from the Brink.

Foster classroom discussion of our 2011 documentary film, Back from the Brink, and its broader implications.
